HAPPY DAY
Check out my horoscope today...it's the best ever!
Get excited, because this is going to be one great day, Angela! Everything will go your way; it will seem as if you simply cannot lose. At work, team members will look to you as the leader. At home, family members express gratitude and affection. What more could anyone want? While you may be tempted to parlay this luck at the casino, don't act on the impulse. You are already a winner. You really do have it all. Enjoy it! You have earned this shining moment.

welcome to the show
Like a Robot
So I picked up Ole from camp the other day and one of the teachers tells me she had to have "a little talk with Ole today." Uh oh...that means trouble. When I asked why...she tells me "because he punched another little boy...who wanted to play with him...in the eye."
Oh. My. God. My cute, sweet, innocent son punched someone in the eye! A cute little boy named Finn, no less. Finn only wanted to play with him.
In the car, on the way home, I asked Ole if he punched another little boy. He says, "Yeah, like a robot. Like this." Then he demonstrated how he did it...with pride.
I proceed to have the talk with him about why it's not okay to hit people and when I get to the part about how it hurts when one hits and it's not nice to hurt people...he says to me, "It doesn't hurt when I hit people." I argued with my four year old son about whether it hurts when he hits people...the whole way home!
This is what my life has turned into.
The good news...so far no more hitting. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.

shuttle memories
Space Shuttle Discovery is go for launch at this hour...and it started me thinking about the Challenger explosion.
I was in the seventh grade at the time and sitting home watching TV. I was home...and not at school...because the Oakland Public School teachers were on strike at the time. They went on strike right after our two week Christmas break...for four weeks. I got six weeks of Christmas vacation that year...AND I WAS STOKED!
Anyway...I was watching the shuttle launch and when it exploded in mid air...the magnitude of what had just happened did not register. I sat there listening to the commentators and it didn't occur to me that all those astronauts were dead. I don't remember when I figured it all out...but looking back...was I stupid or just naive?
I was at work when Columbia blew up two and a half years ago. It was a Saturday morning. It was supposed to land in Houston I think that day...and was to fly over California. At the time...they said the shuttle could be seen flying through the sky with the naked eye. Sometime after 5AM...my colleague Jennifer and I...walked out in the dark onto Battery Street to look for a bright light streaking across the sky. We stood there...in the middle of the street...necks bent backwards...looking and looking. We never saw anything.
It apparently had not yet exploded...we learned later...but to me it was a sign that there was trouble. Not long after we returned to the newsroom...we found out what happened.

OK...it's 3 on Saturday morning...and I'm at work. What the hell am I thinking? This is a ridiculous hour...
This whole blog thing is kind of odd. I'm writing as if someone actually reads this...but it's highly unlikely that anyone but a couple of my friends are. At least I know my audience...so this one's for you, ladies...
dino is leaving
who will annoy terry now?
i guess i'll have to
